As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Shirley has provided therapy to adolescents and adults since 1982 when she earned her Master's in Social Work from Louisiana State University. She initially worked at Central Louisiana State Hospital with mental health patients and then went on to provide treatment to chemically dependent individuals and their families at Rapides Chemical Dependency Services.
In 1990, she went into full time private practice in Alexandria where she experienced mentorship and developed her clinical skills. In 2017, she founded Alexandria Counseling LLC. As the owner, her mission is to assist and develop highly trained clinicians that offer therapeutic services to individuals and families. She strives to provide an environment for both clinicians and clients that is warm, welcoming and inviting, while providing excellent clinical care.
Janice earned her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from NSU, then her Master's degree in Counseling from ULL. She has worked in an inpatient behavioral health setting as well as a university setting.
She now provides individual counseling for clients working on various mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, grief, adjustment disorders and life transitions. She utilizes therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy to help each client reach their therapeutic goals and live their best life.
Jennifer Riche is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor and a Licensed Addiction Counselor. She received her Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Master's degrees in Clinical Psychology and Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern State University. She has worked in various outpatient settings for over 10 years including working with children, adolescents, adults in various settings. Jennifer specializes in holistic trauma recovery for children, adolescents, and adults, PTSD, anxiety, depression, grief, phobias, OCD, panic
attacks, performance anxiety, family issues, codependency, job-related stress, pain management, attachment problems, body-focused somatic approaches, behavioral challenges including parental guidance, support for life transitions, and comprehensive mental health support.
She offers a holistic and compassionate approach tailored to meet your needs with specialized trainings and techniques including Eye Movement Desensitization Therapy (EMDR), Accelerated Resolution
Therapy (ART), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), and Somatic Therapy Approaches.
When she is not spending time helping people and families, Jennifer is an active member of her church and teaches Zumba classes.
Alice' received her Bachelor's degree in Social Work from Louisiana College and her Master's in Social Work from LSU. Alice' has worked in non-profit and outpatient mental health settings. Alice' is passionate about helping girls and women ages 10 and up dealing with anxiety, depression, mood disorders and life adjustment issues, guiding them to walk in freedom. Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and spiritually based CBT (as requested), Alice's goal is to provide a safe place for all clients to heal and grow.
Dani Carter is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Addiction Counselor. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Addiction Studies and her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern State University. She has worked in various inpatient, outpatient, and educational settings since graduating that have helped her to develop her clinical skills and approach to helping others. Dani specializes in substance use, depression, anxiety, grief, and trauma. She is trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy, which is a bilateral stimulation specifically created to address trauma. Her main focus is to help others establish healthy habits and routines to be able to better handle the overwhelming stressors that accompany life.
Other than helping others professionally, Dani serves on youth staff at the Pentecostals of Alexandria, is an active member of the Junior League of Alexandria and is on the Chapter Advisory Board for the Alpha Zeta Chapter of Sigma Sigma Sigma.
Lauren is a licensed clinical social worker with a Master's degree in social work from the University of Texas at Arlington. Lauren has practiced social work for over 20 years in many different environments including outpatient, school-based, and in home settings with children, adolescents, adults and couples.
She also has specialized training in trauma focused counseling and utilizes this to help clients address experiences including physical, emotional and sexual abuse, sexual assault, and domestic violence as well as other traumas. She is skilled in individual, family, group, and couples therapy and assists clients with a variety of issues such as addiction, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, ADHD, PTSD, oppositional behavior, school issues, grief, life transitions, and marital problems by utilizing evidence based interventions including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy and Motivational Interviewing.
Von Vallery, LCSW graduated from Louisiana College in 1991 with an undergrad in Pre-Law and Psychology. He then went straight to work at Red River Treatment Center as a counselor and obtained his Master’s in Social Work in 1994 from Grambling State University. He was a clinical supervisor at Red River Treatment Center. In 2011, he began working at Central Hospital as unit supervisor with the severely mentally ill until 2017. He was then the department head of social work at Central Hospital until he retired in October 2021. In the evenings, Von works for home health as a clinical supervisor. He has been with Stillwaters Hospice since 2008. Von specializes in working with clients with substance abuse and depression and leads our evening Intensive Outpatient Group.

Sarah, a graduate of ULM with a Bachelor of Psychology and a Master of Marriage and Family Therapy, has dedicated her career to helping clients in various treatment settings. Her passion for working with couples and individuals is evident in her commitment to helping them find their most authentic selves and resolve conflicts. Trained in dialectical behavioral therapy, Sarah's use of DBT and CBT instills confidence in her clients, guiding them toward their goals.
As a Licensed Addiction Counselor, Kristi has provided therapy to adolescents and adults for the last 33 years. She has obtained certifications in advanced substance abuse counselor (ADC), cooccurring counselor (CCDPD), certified clinical supervisor (CCS) and is currently licensed as a Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC).
In 1989 she began her career in addictions at an inpatient adolescent treatment center, while she was attending Louisiana College. While working in the field and completing courses in addiction studies, she obtained her Board Certified Substance Abuse Counselor Certification (BCSAC) in 1993. In 2000, she helped open and was the Director of an Adolescent Drug Court Program. Her addictions career with adolescents in both inpatient and outpatient facilities lasted 18 plus years. In 2003, she began working with adults in at Red River Treatment Center and continues to work in the field of addiction.
She is trained in motivational Interviewing (MI), motivational enhancement therapy, (MET), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT). She believes her strengths lie working with people struggling with substance use disorders because she herself is in recovery and loves what she does for a living.
Tina Alexander is a dedicated counseling intern with a MS in Clinical Psychology and over 10 years of experience in the mental health field. She will complete her MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling this summer, bringing a wealth of knowledge and practical expertise to her counseling practice.
